A fine Victorian Mahogany Military Campaign Desk with an inset leather top. It was made in England and dates from the 1860-80 period. This is very well made and is a great size. It has brass inset military handles and sits on turned feet. The drawers have fine dovetailed joints and it is polished to the rear, so can also be used as a free standing desk. It breaks down into four pieces for ease of transport. Campaign furniture like this was frequently strapped to a donkey for transport back when they were first made. The desk has its original removeable, hinged gallery.
The leather top is gold tooled and hand coloured. It is in lovely condition with various marks and indentations, and has good patina. All drawers work well.
Measures: Knee height – 60cm, Knee width – 41cm.
