Antique Australian Cedar Bookcase - Tasmanian origin.
** SOLD **
19th Century Australian Cedar Bookcase, the upper section featuring arched panel doors with original drawn glass, enclosing three original adjustable shelves, the lower section featuring a single frieze drawer above two applied shield panel doors, flanked by carved corbels. Ex Launceston, Tasmania - Launceston written in pencil to underside of drawer and base. Good 19th century finish, with huon pine and baltic pine secondary timbers.
Excellent overall condition, all doors and drawers work smoothly, doors are lockable with keys. The applied shields on the lower doors are also cedar but just a bit lighter colour. The handwriting in both instances appears to be "At Launceston Papa" - not so sure about the word Papa.
