Georgian Mahogany Hepplewhite painted and decorated Writing Desk (a 19th Century conversion from a Spinet), featuring a central oval painting to the lid, decorated in the manner of Angelica Kauffman. The top and friezes are inlaid with bands of satinwood & ebony and decorated with handpainted festoons of flowers. The interior fitted with drawers & pigeonholes. 

Exceptional quality. (Conversion believed to have been done circa 1890.)

This was one of the items in the Burdekin House Antiques Exhibition which took place in Macquarie Street, Sydney in 1929.  We have included a photo of the label which shows its inclusion in the Burdekin House Exhibition. A copy of the Burdekin House Exhibition Catalogue is available on request.
